Having been blessed with visiting many times and once living in Ireland, it is a place and experience I can highly recommend. The one thing better than merely visiting Ireland is to be blessed with a personal tour by one of her native souls.
The Irish are masters at hospitality. There are so many examples of kindness I experienced during my times there that is not possible to list them all.
While writing this message I received belated news of the death of a dear family friend, Fr. Sean Breen. This saddened me greatly, and his passing certainly leaves a great void for me and many others. It has been six years since I'd seen Fr. Sean, and the last time I spoke with him was late last year. I called and spoke with his nephew, Donal, this afternoon to express my sympathies. Donal had just visited one of Fr. Sean's closest friends and the local publican in Naas, Bill McCormack.
In honor of my dear friend and one of the most colorful Irish souls, Fr. Sean Breen, the racing priest of Ireland, here is a blessing to all. And to Fr. Sean, may you be forever young, a part of your Land of Tir na Nog. May your heart and soul live on in the minds of those whose lives you touched by your presence here on Earth. And thank you for the many wonderful tales you leave with us.
"May you always be blessed
with walls for the wind.
A roof for the rain.
A warm cup of tea by the fire.
Laughter to cheer you.
Those you love near you.
And all that your
heart might desire."
